The Inner Yes
A Lecture in the Voice and Spirit of Neville Goddard
You who sit here tonight feeling the weight of circumstances that refuse to yield, hear this truth now: the moment you inwardly consent to a new state, creation begins to rearrange. Not tomorrow, not when conditions improve, but in the very instant your awareness silently says yes to being that which you desire to be. This inner yes is not a loud declaration or a strained effort of the mind. It is the quiet, wordless agreement within consciousness where you accept the new state as already true of you. And because consciousness is the only reality, the world you see must conform to that acceptance.
Man has always decreed that which has appeared in his world, yet most walk unaware of the power they wield in this silent consent. You do not command things to appear by outer words or repeated affirmations. Such things are vain. The decree is ever made in consciousness. That is, you become conscious of being the thing desired, and in that moment of inner consent the agreement is sealed. The awareness of being and the state you now accept as true become one, and their likeness is established on earth.
Consider what this means. Every man is conscious of being that which he has decreed himself to be. The inner yes is this very consciousness taking upon itself the nature of the desired state. When you inwardly consent, you rise in awareness to the naturalness of being that which you formerly sought. No longer do you look upon the desire as something afar off. You feel yourself to be it, and in that feeling the spiritual marriage is consummated. Two agree—your I AM and the state—and it shall be done for you of your Father which is in heaven.
This inner yes is the door through which all manifestations pass into the world of form. Consciousness is the resurrecting power. It resurrects that which you are now conscious of being. The moment you consent inwardly, the old state begins to dissolve because you have withdrawn your awareness from it. You cannot serve two masters. To consent to the new is to die to the old, and in that death life springs forth in perfect correspondence to your acceptance.
You may ask, how does this rearrangement occur? It occurs because your world is nothing more than the out-picturing of your consciousness. When you inwardly say yes to a new state, the entire fabric of your experience is re-woven from within. The people, the events, the conditions that once seemed fixed and unyielding begin to shift, not by your outer striving, but by the quiet power of your consent. Creation is finished. All possibilities exist in consciousness. Your inner yes simply selects the arrangement that matches the state you have accepted as true.
Feel the majesty of this. The awareness of being is God. When you inwardly consent to a new state, you are claiming your Godhood in that moment. You are not begging an external power. You are agreeing within yourself that you are already the embodiment of the desire. And because I AM is the way, the door swings open. No man comes unto the fulfillment save the Father within draws him, and you and your Father are one. The inner yes is that drawing. It is the Father within recognizing Himself in the state you have accepted.
Tonight, as you sit here, you can enter this agreement. Turn your attention away from the evidence of the senses that seems so real. Let the old pictures fade. In the silence of your own being, consent to the new state. Feel yourself to be the one you wish to be. Not with strain, but with the naturalness that comes when you truly accept. In that acceptance, creation rearranges itself around you. The circumstances that held you begin to loosen their grip. New opportunities, new relationships, new conditions flow into your world because they must. They are the inevitable out-picturing of your changed consciousness.
This is no mere theory. It is the changeless principle upon which all things rest. Man has always been conscious of being something, and that something has always appeared in his world. The inner yes is simply the deliberate use of this power. Instead of being conscious of limitation, you become conscious of freedom. Instead of being conscious of lack, you become conscious of abundance. In the moment of consent, the agreement is made, and the likeness is established.
Let me speak this truth to you again in another way so that it may sink deeper. The word, the desire, swims in your consciousness seeking embodiment. When you inwardly consent, you fix that word with God—your awareness of being. You nail yourself upon the form of the new state by feeling it to be natural. In that instant, what was dead or unfulfilled is resurrected. Two have agreed upon earth, and it is established. Your awareness and the state have become one, and the outer world must bear witness.
You who feel stuck know this: the stuckness is only the out-picturing of your former consent to limitation. Change the inner yes, and the rearrangement is immediate in principle, though it may take time to appear in the three-dimensional world. But the moment the consent is made, the work is done within. The outer follows as surely as day follows night. Do not look for signs. The signs follow those who believe. They never precede. Get the consciousness first, and the thing is compelled to appear.
In the awareness of being all things are possible. When you inwardly consent to the new state, you are lifted up in consciousness to the naturalness of being that state. And I, if I be lifted up, will draw all men unto me. All the elements of your world—people, places, things—begin to move in harmony with your new acceptance. They have no choice, for they are but the shadows cast by your consciousness. Change the light within, and the shadows rearrange themselves.
This inner yes is the secret of secrets. It is the kingdom of heaven within you. Seek first this consent, this agreement in consciousness, and all things shall be added unto you. You do not need to know how it will happen. No man knows the way. Consciousness has ways past finding out. Your part is simply to consent inwardly, to feel the naturalness of the new state, and to rest in that acceptance. The Father within does the work. Your awareness of being is the power that rearranges creation.
Many walk through life unaware of this mighty truth. They look outside themselves for the cause of their conditions. They blame people, events, the economy, their past. But I tell you, the cause is always within. The moment you withdraw consent from the old state and give it wholly to the new, the old state withers and dies for lack of attention. The new state lives and breathes because you have become conscious of being it. This is the law. It is immutable.
Feel now the simplicity of it. You are not required to change the world by force. You are asked only to change your consciousness by consent. In the quiet of your own being, say yes to the health you desire, to the abundance you desire, to the freedom you desire. Say it not with lips but with awareness. Become conscious of being that reality. In that moment, creation begins its rearrangement. The evidence of the senses may still deny it for a time, but persist in the inner yes, and the outer must yield.
The Bible reveals this truth in a thousand ways, yet man has read it as history instead of as the drama of consciousness. “I AM hath sent me unto you.” That I AM is your awareness. When you consent to a new state, you are sending yourself into expression as that state. “Be still and know that I AM God.” In the stillness of inner consent, you know yourself as God of your world. “I AM the way.” The inner yes is the way. It is the door. It is the resurrection and the life.
You who listen tonight, you can prove this for yourself this very night. Retire to your bed and, before sleep claims you, enter into the inner yes. Feel yourself to be the one you wish to be. Consent fully. Let no doubt intrude. Rest in the naturalness of that acceptance. Sleep in that feeling. When you do, you have made the agreement, and creation is already rearranging itself around you. You will awaken to a world that has begun to reflect your new consent.
This is not a power reserved for the few. It is the birthright of every man. The awareness of being as God is accessible to all. When you inwardly consent, you tap into the infinite power that creates all things. You are not separate from it. You are it. The moment of consent is the moment you claim your inheritance. And the world, being but the out-picturing of consciousness, must rearrange itself in harmony with your claim.
Let this truth sink into the very depth of your being. The inner yes is not a technique. It is a state of consciousness. It is the natural acceptance of your true identity in the desired state. When you live from this acceptance, life flows with effortless grace. Challenges dissolve not because you fight them, but because you have withdrawn your consent from their reality. You have given your consent to the new, and the new is established.
Again and again the principle reveals itself. In the awareness of being all things are possible. You shall decree a thing and it shall come to pass. The decree is the inner yes. It is the rising in consciousness to the naturalness of being the thing desired. When that naturalness is attained, the outer world conforms. It has no other choice. Consciousness is the reality. The rest is shadow.
You may feel the pull of old habits of thought. The senses will cry out their evidence of the old state. But I tell you, stand firm in the inner yes. Do not waver. Do not look back. The agreement has been made. The spiritual marriage has taken place. The likeness is being established on earth. Hold fast to the consent you have given, and you will see the rearrangement unfold in perfect order.
This is the great secret that the prophets knew. Moses discovered God to be man’s awareness of being. When you consent inwardly, you are Moses declaring “I AM hath sent me.” You are sending the new state into expression. David sang, “Be still and know that I AM God.” In the stillness of your inner yes, you know this. Isaiah declared, “I AM the Lord and there is none else.” In your consent, you are that Lord creating the new arrangement.
The New Testament echoes the same truth. “I AM the shepherd. I AM the door. I AM the resurrection and the life.” Your inner yes is the shepherd leading you into the green pastures of the new state. It is the door through which the fulfillment enters. It is the resurrection that brings the dead desire to life. When you consent, you are lifted up, and all things are drawn unto you.
Tonight you stand at the threshold. The power is in your hands, or rather in your consciousness. The moment you inwardly consent to the new state, creation begins to rearrange. Not by might, nor by power, but by the spirit of your acceptance. Feel this deeply. Let the inner yes become your natural dwelling place. Live in it as the most real thing in your world. Then you will know what it is to walk in the kingdom of heaven while still on earth.
The rearrangement is not always instant in appearance, but it is instant in principle. The inner world changes first, and the outer follows in its own time and in its own way. Your task is to remain faithful to the consent you have given. Do not undo it by returning to the old consciousness. Persist in the inner yes, and the outer world will be compelled to reflect it. This is the law. It cannot fail.
You who have felt powerless, hear this: you are not powerless. The power lies in your ability to consent inwardly. In that consent, you exercise the creative authority that is your birthright. The world is plastic to your awareness. It reshapes itself according to the state you accept as true. Change the inner consent, and you change the outer manifestation. This is the simple, profound truth that sets men free.
Let me dwell once more on the feeling of this inner yes. It is not a forced emotion. It is the quiet certainty that comes when you know yourself to be the desired state. It is the peace that passes understanding. It is the rest in God—your own awareness. When you enter this rest, creation rearranges itself without effort on your part. The Father within works while you rest. This is the Sabbath of the inner yes.
In this Sabbath, all striving ceases. You have consented. The agreement is made. Now you simply live in the consciousness of the new state as though it were true. And because it is true in consciousness, it must become true in expression. The outer world is the mirror. When you change the image within, the reflection changes. This is the eternal principle.
You can apply this to any area of your life. The principle remains the same. The moment of inner consent is the turning point. From that moment, creation is at work rearranging the pieces of your world into the pattern of your new acceptance. Trust this. Rest in it. Live from it. And you will witness the miracle of your own consciousness made visible.
This is the good news. This is the gospel of the inner yes. It is not something to be believed in the future. It is something to be experienced now. Tonight, as you leave this place in consciousness, take with you this one truth: the moment you inwardly consent to a new state, creation begins to rearrange. Hold fast to that consent. Let it be your constant companion. And your world will be transformed beyond your wildest imaginings.
For in the end, there is only consciousness. There is only the I AM. And when you consent to a new state, you are simply being the I AM in a new and glorious way. The world rearranges itself to honor that being. This is your heritage. This is your power. This is the inner yes that changes everything.
Claim it now. Consent now. And watch as creation itself bows to the majesty of your inner acceptance. You are the operant power. You have always been. In the moment of the inner yes, you remember who you are, and the world remembers with you.
The rearrangement has already begun within you tonight. Feel it. Accept it. Live it. For you and your Father are one, and in that oneness all things are possible. This is the eternal truth. This is the inner yes. And it is yours forever.
